October Afternoon and DT CAll

One of my fave scrappy places to hang is HSS aka Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking. Sharon is the nicest and most generous ladies I know AND HSS has tons of goodies in the store for all you Cricut and Cuttlebug users AND Pageframe lovers ;) So make sure you check out the DT call.

Here are some projects I did for Serendipity Scrapbooks Weekly Review. I got to review Ducks in a Row by October Afternoon {poor me, lol} and some cutie Twitterpated rubons by Imaginisce. Don't forget that Serendipity just loaded OA's roadmap collection! Of course I needed to add some Core'dinations to my projects...whitewash here...it went really well with these soft colors.

Here is the journaling....when i think of grandmas i think of hugs and kisses and unlimited candy in the candy drawer. i think of McDonalds and Soap Operas and playing in the sewing room. i think of laughing and a brilliant sense of humor. I think of what an amazing woman you were and how you taught me that working hard is nothing to be ashamed of...i think of you tickling my back while i sat on the floor putting off riding my bike up that huge hill. i think of sleepovers whem mom and dad went away and birthday parties on your back porch. i think of getting "squinched" b/w you and grandpa when i snuggled in bed with you. when i think of grandmas, i think of unlimted amounts of love and memories that will last a lifetime.

I did a little super secret journaling on here ;)

SavvyNSassy Ribbon

so this was my last month getting my SavvyNSassy ribbon. I loved my time there! It is still hard to believe that was my first MB i ever joined. I remember signing up there b/c i was a my grandma's house. i know that sounds cheesey but since she is in a nursing home and doesn't really remember me, it means a lot to have that memory.

Holly has been doing a trivia over there everyday that is so fun. So i am going to share it with you {since it is the first one i ever got right, LOL}.

When this six-letter word is capitalized, it refers to a European country and language. When not capitalized, it means to make smooth or shiny. What is the word?

Can't wait to hear your guesses!

Here is a layout I made with the pompom trim SnS June kit. It was filled with such cool colors...yellows, browns and greys.

I also used a tag from Jennifer over at Creative Chaos. I was the June Guest Designer over there and she sent me a package of journaling tags! I used one on this layout, too. I added a fun little tag made from Core'dinations Cardstock that i ran through my Cuttlebug.

And here is a frame I did. It is based on a sketch from UA for their birthday celebration but I have always wanted to make those flag/kite things. I had this wood frame and I love to make frame stuff so i painted it red with some crackle medium and went to town....more SnS ricrac on there and another Creative Chaos journaling spot and more Core'dinations Cardstock.

A blonde Serendipity DT Call ;)

Serendipity Scrapbooks has posted the DT call for the August-January Team. This place is my home away from home and if you get a chance you need to check it out.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

who loves to spend their scrubsters money? lol...since we both work {well, techniquely he is still laid off}, when i get to spend his money it is extra special! jk. it's all ours...i am just in a good mood.

so, i went blonde! i use to get lowlights and a few highlights but these are all high! i love to change it up and an i haven't been blonde in a looooooong time...since before owen was born, actually.

and here is a layout i did for the blog hop at Urban Anthology. It was fun! there were a bunch of requirements...using crepe paper {the bottom of the hat..it was white and i used color washes and glimmer mists} a big shape, masking..and lots more. TFL! it's LOaDeD with BoBunny goodness.

how could i forget!?

I just wanted to share a layout I did for Memory Makers Magazine. I have to tell you, handing the extra copy that they send you to owen's friend's parents {his two buddies in the photo} was the best feeling. We saw them at owen's kindergarten graduation and their grandparents were there too and their faces lit up.

The boys were like, "we're in a magazine! we're in a magazine!". It made me realize why I love scrapbooking so much. I was glad they didn't ask me for the layout! lol, jk ;)

I used some of my favorite Fancy Pants Paper for this one & lots of other misc. goodies.

so so bad....LOL!

don't even want to count the number of days i haven't blogged! i have been swamped.

LSSS is going on over at Serendipity and we finished up our crop over there. I had some projects do for Core'dinations and I have a layout going to CHA! yeah! and i have another project on the Jillbean blog {psyched to be getting a project of theirs pubbed in Scrapbook Trends Holiday book}.

SavvyNSassy {my numero uno place for Ribbon and all things Glimmer Mist and shiny} is having a DT call, so check it out!

AND i have some GREAT NEWS! i got a job teaching at a local community college! it will be one night a week for 4 hours starting mid-july. i am sooooooooooo stoked. this is EVERYTHING i have been working for, well, my whole life. it is my dream to be a college professor and i know this is a small step but really is a huge step for me. i have been sending out resumes forever {it feels like} and to get this call for an interview so exciting. so i have been preparing for the interview for days and have really submerged myself in that.

AND i cannot say ENOUGH about what Forward Progress has done for me. a months ago on this prompt, we all made 5 goals we wanted to achieve in 5 months and i honestly only have ONE MORE TO GO! when i did this month's prompt a week ago, i had three to go and now all i have to do is run my 5k since i got this job!

it's not too late to do your 5 for 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and to be honest. i NEVER would have done any of this if i did not hold my self accountable and get these goals on paper. i was sending out tons of resumes and i finally said, i am going to hand deliver this if i want it that bad and i did just that a few weeks ago. and bam.
here is this month's prompt. we worked on sharing the goals we have achieved so far.

Guest Designer over at....

Webster's Pages!

I fell in love with Websters awhile back when I got a kit with their first set of papers they released. I think I have owned and used almost everything else they have released since then! I got to work with Terri over at Serendipity Scrapbooks {who is featuring Websters, again, in July} and when she emailed me and asked me to be a guest designer, I could not have been more excited. I love hanging out over at InspireMe. The inspiration is amazing. Here is a link to my gallery. the first 6 are the ones I did with the new Sweet as Cherry Pie

I did a bunch of projects but I wanted to share this one with you first since I was so excited to finally make these wings. When I saw the vellum in my {hugely awesome} package of goodies, I knew I wanted to make these. I was inspired by this book, Taking Flight; Give Your Creative Spirit Wings, written byKelly Rae Roberts . It is loaded with cool projects! a HUGE thanks to my mom for giving it to me for my birthday last month.

First you need to make the shape of the wings out of wire. I used 20 guage so it is flexible yet pretty sturdy. Bend them to the desired shape....

and then add a layer of modgepodge to the back of the vellum {you gotta be fast b/c it may curl on you} and then place the wire on the glue.

add a bit more modgepodge over the wire...

and then add a layer of tissue paper. you may need to add more modgepodge if certain places don't stick. so keep pressing and adding until you get it the way you like... {why does my hand look like that?! LOL!}

you may need to add some more modgepodge and tissue paper b/c it may tear but that's okay.

now the hard part...letting it dry! it shouldn't take too long. mine was dry in a few hours...
the cut out the shape and you have some wings!
